The City of Monheim am Rhein already has a dense public transport network, which it wants to continue expanding. Bahnen der Stadt Monheim (or BSM, the town's public transport provider) sets the pace. The wholly owned subsidiary of the municipal Monheimer Versorgungs- und Verkehrs-GmbH, Monheim's public energy and transport company, is a member of the two largest public transport associations in North Rhine-Westphalia: the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) and the Verkehrsverbund Rhein-Sieg (VRS).
In recent years, BSM has developed into a modern and innovative transport company with a strong focus on customer service and an eye on the future. It maintains a modern fleet of 31 vehicles that meet the latest environmental requirements and is constantly working on enhancing its operating procedures to improve or speed up connections for its customers. In an extensive network of sales outlets throughout the town, passengers can conveniently and competently access all services, from advice to ticket sales.
Together with Rheinbahn AG in Düsseldorf and wupsi GmbH in Leverkusen, BSM operates a bus network of 11 lines with a total length of 187.2 km. A total of 31 buses serve 480 stops, carrying 5.6 million passengers.
