Kunstwerkstatt Turmstrasse: a place for art

The Art Workshop has been the new place of action of the municipal Art School since early 2022. Located in the heart of Monheim’s old part of town, it is an open house and a project space for contemporary visual arts, a place where people can meet, communicate and create together. The artists’ apartments on the top floor are always hosting artists who are carrying out exciting projects throughout the city. Be it performance art, dance, planting campaigns, audio walks, or simply hanging out together in an art-inspired way – Monheimers are regularly invited to drop by, take part, and join in the discussion. Together, we will explore the many forms in which we can encounter art today.

Besides the projects of the guest artists, the Art Workshop offers plenty of space for an art library as well as for workshops and activities of the Art School. With its rooftop terrace and outdoor area below, more expansive offers such as a metal workshop or work using other sculpting techniques are possible. The venue sees itself as an experimental place that is shaped by the different people who meet here, which means it is forever changing and evolving.

The Art Workshop carries out art projects for everyone and with everyone; the interaction between artists and local people is at the heart of the work it does. As the audience itself is part of the art, all the offers of the Art Workshop are free of charge.

In 2023, we expect exciting artists to create projects of short and longer duration, here on site and throughout the city. Among others, we will welcome the artists TinTin Patrone and, once again, Christiane Limper. The exact program is still being planned and will be constantly added to in the course of the year – surprises at short notice are always possible. Stay tuned and keep up with the latest news!

Every Thursday from 2 to 5 p.m., everyone is invited to our Art Book Thursday. Grab a coffee and browse our collection of books. The Art Workshop is open to you.
