Mayor Daniel Zimmermann (Peto party) has been the head of the Administration and chairman of the Council since October 21, 2009.
The mayor is directly elected by the citizens and is also the head of the Administration. He represents the Council and the Administration externally, chairs the meetings of the Council and the General and Financial Committee and draws up their agendas.
Among other things, the mayor is also chairman of the supervisory board of Monheimer Versorgungs- und Verkehrsgesellschaft mbH, the city's energy supply and transport holding company, and the other municipal companies associated with it.
In his function as the head of the local authorities, the full-time mayor is assisted by the fFirst Councillor, who acts as his general representative. He is elected to his office for a period of eight years.
In addition, the mayor has a variety of representative duties to fulfil. They include, among other things, visiting local residents on special birthdays and wedding anniversaries, as well as being present when local clubs, associations and institutions have something to celebrate
The mayor is supported in his representative duties by the first deputy mayor, Lucas Risse (Peto Party) and and the second deputy mayor, Lydia Hannawald (Peto Party).
Every week, the mayor answers, in person, the questions that local citizens ask him. This takes place in room 142 in Monheim City Hall every Thursday by appointment from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
