In Monheim am Rhein, there are various opportunities to go shopping in a relaxed atmosphere. The new town center, "Monheim Mitte", is being built in the very heart of the city. On Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, traders come to the weekly markets in Monheim am Rhein. And anyone who wants to support local commerce on the Internet can use the "Monheimer Lokalhelden" online shopping platform.

Monheim Mitte

Monheim's new town center, Monheim Mitte, has been created by converting the existing Rathauscenter and redesigning Heinestraße.

On the ground floor, there will be an optimized mix of tenants including restaurants, cafés, clothing, jewelery, stationery, flowers, health, personal care, services and food an beverages. High shop windows invite shoppers to come in and have a look around. There will be a short arcade connecting the existing Aldi and Rossmann retail spaces with the new premises. Like the stores, the cafés and restaurants will face the arcade and the squares, creating a pleasant atmosphere.

The grand opening of Monheim Mitte will be celebrated on Thursday, September 29.

Weekly markets

The residents and visitors of Monheim and Baumberg can shop at weekly markets three times a week.

On Wednesdays and Saturdays, there is a weekly market in the bypass car park on Frohnstrasse. On Fridays, there is a market in the car park in front of the Aldi branch on Geschwister-Scholl-Strasse in Baumberg. Together with the retailers and service providers in the city center and in the Holzweg shopping street, customers can benefit from a wide variety of shopping options.

The markets offer a wide range of produce from fish, meat, eggs and cheese to fruit and vegetables, flowers and bread. Sellers also offer textiles, household goods and haberdashery. The markets are operated by the German Market Guild (DMG) in Eschenburg. Both locations are easily to get to by car and bus.

Online shopping "Monheimer Lokalhelden"

Monheim's merchants, service providers, restaurant and bar owners are jointly committed to creating a vivid town center, illuminated shop windows and new, attractive offers every day right in front of your door. The City administration supports this commitment with the Monheimer Lokalhelden (Local Heroes) platform, which gives suppliers the opportunity to present themselves and their businesses.
